Report Options

  • Report – A report can only be used to retrieve data.
  • Input Schedule – An Input Schedule can be used to send data to any write enabled cell in the Model that you have been granted write access to.
  • Use global formats to initialize all report formats – When checked format definitions for a report are initialized to global settings defined by the Administrator before applying formats explicitly defined in the report.
  • Reverse signs – When checked the sign of all numbers in a report are reversed. This is useful when defining a Multi Select Slicer on the Account dimension in the Report Slicer. (Note: This option is not used by input schedules.)
  • Report Name – An optional name for the report. This name is only required if you want to designate this report as a report to drill down to.
  • Password – Allows a report to be password protected so it can only be modified by users knowing the password. If a password is defined for the report, the user will be prompted for the password anytime they attempt to edit the report, and the Report Editor will only open if they supply the correct password. When a password is assigned to a report, the worksheet containing the report is automatically protected with the same password. When only one password is used for any reports within a workbook, other worksheets within the workbook as well as the entire workbook can also be protected using the same password. (Note: For input schedules, you should be careful to insure all input cells are unlocked.)
  • Color for input cells – Define the background color assigned to cells within an Input Schedule that are currently open for input. (Note: To be open for input all the members that define the data for that particular cell must be Unlocked and the user must have been granted Write Access.) When a color is selected with this option, any background assigned to data cells within a report will be automatically cleared or assigned this color when an Input Schedule is refreshed.
  • Event Handlers – Call user defined macros during the refresh and data send cycles of a report. Macros must be entered as fully qualified macro name as they appear in the Run Macro dialog in Excel. For instance, “ThisWorkbook.Macroname”.
    • Before Refresh – Macro to be called before the report refresh cycle starts.
    • After Refresh – Macro to be called after the report refresh cycle ends.
    • Before Send – Macro to be called before any data is sent to the server in a schedule send cycle. (Note: This event can be used to validate data before it is sent to the server and cancel the send if the data does not pass your validation.) Use the CL_CancelSend macro during this event to cancel a schedule send.
    • After Send – Macro to be called after a schedule send cycle ends.
  • Blast Output – Use this option to improve refresh times on large workbooks containing a large number of formulas or conditional formatted cells. (Note: This option has a limitation, Excel formulas will NOT be preserved in the defined rows and columns of the report. Excel formulas are preserved in rows or columns manually inserted outside the Report Editor.)


  • Headings grid – Enter headings that will appear at the top of the report. Dimension member properties can be referenced to create dynamic headings that display things such as the Entity and Time Period a report is being run for. (NOTE: To include dynamic member properties in a heading use the syntax of
{{dimensionname:propertyname}}

. Application Variables can also be included in a heading with the syntax

{{@variablename}}

  • Center – Click this label to enter a heading that will be centered across the report. (Note: If a Center heading is entered, then any entry for Left or Right will be ignored.)
  • Left, Right – Click this label to enter a heading that will be aligned with the left or right edge of the report.
  • Format – Define format options for the heading row. (See Format Options in the Report Body section following for information on specific format options.)

Report Format Options – Define default format options for all cells in the report. Any options set here only apply if the individual row / column definitions does not have a setting for the specific format option. (See Format Options in the Report Body section following for information on specific format options.)


Define charts to be created as part of the report. (Note: These charts are created as defined charts with native Excel features when the report refreshes. The charting features here are only a subset of the native Excel chart features, and native Excel are fully supported for more sophisticated charts.)


Define a Bookmark to be used for this report. When the report is initially opened, any member selections are set in the CV. When the report is viewed dimensions are hidden in the CV based on Bookmark settings. When the Member Selector is opened by selecting a dimension in the CV, any Bookmark Filter settings are applied to the Member Selector display.

  • None – No Bookmark defined for this report.
  • Bookmark reference – Use the defined Bookmark indicated for this report.
  • Embedded bookmark – Define a Bookmark as part of the report definition to be used for this report.


  • Set Report Slicer – The Report Slicer allows selecting a model and a fixed member on dimensions that a report will run for. All dimensions that do not have a member selected in the Slicer will use the member from the Current View selections. To set a member on a dimension, click on the dimension name in the list which will open the Member Selector. To clear an existing member setting, click on the dimension name in the list again. Any dimension with a member set on the Report Slicer will be grayed out in the CV display when the worksheet containing the report is selected.
    • Set All – All dimensions that do not currently have a member selected, will be set to the member currently selected in the Current View.
    • Clear All – Clear all dimension member selections, so there are no members selected in the Report Slicer.
