Every type of Performance Dashboard designed with the product is a Canvas. There are multiple types of canvases for different purposes like Microsoft SharePointâ„¢, Web 2.0, Mobile and others. Another way of putting it is that pcMobile is a common term for Mashboards, third generation Performance Dashboards and Scorecards.

A Data Source in pcMobile is a defined source of data in the administrative tool of the product. Some versions of pcMobile are restricted by number and/ or type of Data Sources allowed. Examples of Data Sources are

A Gem is a piece of your Business and a term in it. In addition to this a slicer is a visual representation of the same. Gems are designed by BI professionals to be easily usable and instantly meaningful to users throughout your organization. By dragging one or more Gems onto your Canvas you decide the business focus. When you drag a Gem onto your Canvas it instantly shows up as a perfect visualization like a table or a graph of the business term.

A Gem may contain its own preferences on what information to see, but in many cases you like to change it. A Slicer is the tool to select what information to see in the Gems displayed on the Canvas. You drag a Slicer into your Canvas to create a way to select what information to view. Slicers are also used as you design your Gems connecting the selection criterias. The slicer themselves are defined to suit your organization by a BI Professional.

Also called real-time dashboard, a mashboard is a Web 2.0 buzzword that is used to describe analytic mash-ups that allow businesses to create or add components that may analyze and present data, look up inventory, accept orders, and other tasks without ever having to access the system that carries out the transaction.
