PTS PivotTableĀ® Service is a collection of dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) that have to be installed on your computer to be able to connect to Analysis Services or a cube file. PivotTable Services does not work with SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. Therefore, client applications that need connect to Analysis Services in both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 will need to install both PivotTable Services 8.0 and Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider in a side-by-side configuration.

Please visit Microsoft's SQL Server Home page http://www.microsoft.com/sql to find information of latest service pack for SQL Server.

There are two setup programs for PTS, Ptslite.exe and Ptsfull.exe. They are provided on the SQL Server CD-ROM, in the folder \Msolap\Install\Pts. Ptslite.exe installs the PivotTable Service files only. Ptsfull.exe installs the PivotTable Service files and Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) that is required for PTS to work.

In this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290211/ you can find information about different PTS versions for SQL 2000.

Download Analysis Services 11.0 OLE DB Provider (SQL_AS_OLEDB.msi) which is a part of the Feature Pack from Microsoft's download page

Important! You need to use same version of PTS/OLE DB Provider on all machines. Client machines, SharePoint Service machine and Analysis Service machine. If Analysis Services is not installed on the SharePoint Server a separate installation of PTS/OLE DB Provider on the SharePoint Server is needed.

To be able to add/view DSP BI Web Parts in SharePoint pages you have to install DSP Web Part components on your SharePoint server.

The installation package for DSP Portal Edition consists of one msi file. This file is used both for server and client installation.

The web part package will be installed on all existing virtual servers. If adding a new virtual server after the installation of DSP BI Web Parts you have to run install.bat (..\program files\dsp analysis client\web part). To be able to use shipped demo cube you have to select Custom or Complete installation.

DSP Client must be installed on each computer that will be used to create Web Parts or using the Launch or Send commands from the Web Part. It is possible to install both client and server components on the same machine by selecting Custom or Complete installation.

Upgrading from earlier retail versions will be handled automatically by the installation program. Installed trial versions needs to be removed manually before starting the installation. Web parts created with retail version or trial version will continue to work after this installation of this retail version.

Version 4.3 has no update on assembly Version or PublickeyToken. It will replace existing installed 4.x assembly. Therefore can not version 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3 run side by side on one server installation.
